Cheap Kitchen Units

If you are in the midst of remodeling a rental unit you own, or even your own kitchen, but don’t really have enough money for a premium kitchen with highend appliances, there are cheap kitchen units you can buy that would do the job—-i.e., providing a cheap kitchen unit with all the basic amenities that you would expect to find in a kitchen unit.  A kitchen unit should, at minimum, provide the following: refrigerator, stove, dishwasher, and cupboards.  Kitchen units of this type can vary in price according to how you put each of these components together.  You can purchase a cheap kitchen as a complete set, or at least part of a set.  A complete set would include the aforementioned components of stove, refrigerator, dishwasher, and cupboards.  Or it may include just the appliances with all other components purchased as part of another set.  Since what’s key here is “cheap kitchen units,” buying everything all at once may not necessarily be a moneysaver to you.  You may find that you can buy the appliances for a lot less separately than if you buy it as part of a larger set which would include cupboards.

Before going further, we should define what cheap kitchen units are.  For this report, we are looking at cheap kitchen units meaning cheap in price.  Given that household items tend to be high in price today, it’s important to look at brand names when you’re looking to get the best price possible.  When you walk into an appliance store, you’re bound to walk into a wide price range in appliances.  You can go from high end products such as a Sub-Zero brand refrigerator and stove to a lower priced General Electric refrigerator and stove.  “Cheap” should not be a connotation for a product that is inferior in quality.  Brank names like General Electric or Whirlpool, for example, are among the lower priced appliances yet both are well known brands that have been around for decades and claim a good reputation.  When you buy the lower priced items, you want to make sure that they do the job they’re supposed to do; you want to make sure they’re durable, that you can refrigerate food, you can cook on a stove, and you can wash dishes without a problem.

What are the instances when you would opt to buy cheap kitchen appliances?  Well, everyone likes to save a buck but the question remains—why choose one over the other?

Cheap kitchen units are recommended for apartment owners (landlords) who only want to provide kitchens with a basic design and functional appliances at a low cost.  To invest in very expensive appliances and a designer kitchen is generally not recommended for apartments.  It’s generally not cost effective to invest heavily in a kitchen when the rent barely covers expenses for building maintenance.

The more expensive kitchen units are best left to remodeling your own home, especially if you are considering selling the house in the near future.  For one thing, a remodeled kitchen and remodeled bathroom increase the value of the house than any other room in the house.  Such items as a stainless steel Thermidor stove and refrigerator with cherry cabinets have aesthetics and amenities that you wouldn’t find in cheaper kitchen unit models.  To install such as unit in an apartment building is not recommended unless you plan on converting your any of your units into condominiums where you are trying to appeal to a buyer rather than a renter.

Another problem with installing more expensive appliances and cabinets in a rental unit is that because of high turnover in tenants, kitchen units suffer wear and tear.  It would be best to buy something that you can replace inexpensively rather than finding a broken cherry cabinet door or an oven door that’s falling apart.
